Great seafood, and the service was friendly and attentive. The ambiance was New England waterfront at its best. The portions are plentiful and the New England clam chowder was creamy and delicious. The fried calamari was crispy and fresh. The lobster roll was full of delicious sweet lobster. What more can you ask for?

I went to Newicks a bunch of times and have always liked it. Being right on the Great Bay the view is excellent and I've always gotten their wonderful fish and chips with an occasional lobster or lobster roll. I recently went there for Taco Tuesday and had fish tacos and decided to write this review. I was raised in a commercial fishing family and know what is and is not fresh seafood growing up on nothing but really fresh seafood when it was served at home. I have NEVER had a bad meal at Newick's. Quite to the contrary. Everything I've ever had has been fresh, well prepared with copious proportions and quite reasonably priced. The service is always really friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is spacious, casual, conversational and interesting. The restaurant is always quite clean there is ample parking. It's my first choice for seafood in the Portsmouth area for these reasons. The tacos were awesome BTW but no surprise to me. That is just what they do there, which is simply awesome food.

This was a fun little side jaunt to a traditional super lobster shack. Hidden a bit off the road, but close to UNH so would make a nice place to meet up with your student. Pretty views, great service, spacious. Nice area to walk along the river trail after dinner with your ice cream too.

I don't like seafood. My friend however was very excited to go here. We had gone many years ago just after college. Our waitress was great. She was young, super polite, and although the kitchen messed up and they seemed under staffed and they were cleaning around us, she stayed calm, attentive, and just nice. One of us got a lobster. She said it was perfect (but a little hard to crack) and she got oysters. She was in heaven. I got chicken tenders and onion rings. The tenders were shockingly great. Like I might order them from here in the future good. It was nice to look out at the river, but the tossing chairs on tables all around us left a bit to be desired. Go for the food, not the ambiance.
